Shuffle Tampon

Babe is into Apple BIG TIME. I must say I love my MAC...it's been with me through some rough times (like when I was in the hospital for 6 weeks before Thing 1 and Thing 2 were born). Anyway, the new ipod shuffle...yes, that's what I was talking about. Check it out, the thing looks like a tampon if I ever saw one...

I'll tell you what! I just can't seem to be very consistent with this!

So on with my story...
I ended up staying in the hospital for 6 weeks. My Dr. let me take a shower, siting down every other day and other than bathroom breaks I couldn't get out of bed.
One day I was in bed (as usual) and I started to feel like I was getting a fever, achy all over. I called my nurse and a few hours later it ended up that I was in labor. That night I gave birth to my babies. Evie was 2 pounds 8 ounces. Lizzie was 2 pounds 6 ounces.  Three minutes apart. I wasn't able to touch them until later, they were so tiny. I was taken to the recovery room and they were taken to the NICU where they stayed for 58 days. It was a long 2 months! Finally we were able to be a family, all together without anyone else. Just us. It is so much work with two babies...they both want to eat at the same time and they want to be held at the same time... I wouldn't trade them for ANYTHING.

Way too long

It's been way too long since I've posted. We had an insane spring/summer, I spent six weeks in the hospital on strict bed rest with the nastiest of drugs coursing through my body...more on that later and then the babies were born 12 weeks early more later on that too. But now we are all out of the hospital and healthy.

The scare...
I woke up one morning in early May 22 weeks into my pregnancy and I noticed some bleeding, at first I didn't think it was that big of a deal because the first trimester I experienced bleeding very frequently, but I told my husband and we decided to call the OB. She asked me to come into the office to be checked. I came in and waited for about 30 minutes...I remember distinctly four or five hard kicks I felt from baby B, it was almost like she was saying..."mommy, we'll be just fine, don't you worry". But I was, I was worried.
I went back to the examining room took off my pants and the DR came in right away. I put my feet up and as she began to examine me she said she may send me to the hospital for observation because she is a little cautious, especially with twins. Before she finished talking she stopped and helped me sit up.
"I'm afraid I have some bad news friend...you are dilated to five cm and your water is bulging out of your cervix. I want you to go straight to the hospital. Are you with someone?"
"No., I can call my sister..."
"No, just go now, I don't even want to wait for an ambulance...go now, I'll call and tell them you are coming"
And with that I left, as I walked out to the car I called my husband...I was already crying because at that point my worry had turned to terror. I couldn't believe it...I don't remember much of my drive to the hospital. I called my sister who used to work at the hospital. I called my mom at work, funny now that I think about it I told her co-worker that it was 'kind of an emergency' and then I lost the connection. Mom called back in a minute and I told her what was going on. She was shocked. She used to work as a nurse in labor and delivery and the her reaction was scary to me...I started crying all over again.
As I pulled into the hospital my sister was standing there on the sidewalk waiting for me like an angel. I stopped, she told me where to park. I just followed her into the hospital. I don't remember how I got to labor and delivery but I did.
more later....babies are crying.

9 Weeks 2 Days

There's two in there. I still can't believe that somehow, my husband and I (who thought we would have a hard time getting pregnant) find ourselves with twins after only 6 months of trying for one baby. We had our first OB appointment this past week. My Dr. (who I LOVE) says that everything looks great...and she even snuck me in for an ultrasound. Two babies, two little heartbeats, four hands, four feet, two little noses. They already look so much like little babies and they are only a little over an inch long! I was even able to see them moving a little. I was laying there on the table in amazement. I just couldn't believe it! Yes, there are two and they are making me sick...everyone says it's a good sign to be sick...that's fine. I just can't wait until the first trimester is over. Three more weeks!
